My rating: 2 of 5 stars
I was excited when once again the publisher reached out with an ARC since I have received ARCs of all but the first book and loved them. Sadly this book didn’t live up to the rest in the series.
What I like about this series is the main character, Juliet. She is sweet, spunky and always getting herself in situations where she needs help. She also always seems to be smack dab in the middle of a murder investigation. After her breakup with her boyfriend in the last book, Juliet has moved on with her life and found a new cop to date. She is still working at the coffee shop with her best friend Pete but has recently become a PI and is working for a top PI in the area on an investigation. She also starts her own investigation with her best friend Pete on the death of the Java-Jive’s cook’s Fiancé.
These series books are normally a fun and smooth read but I found this one dragged from then bringing. With my enjoyment from the rest of this series, I assumed the book would pick up in time and sadly it never did. It felt like a lot of the spunky and energetic traits of Juliet were there but not the same. It was very disappointing and honestly a hard book for me to finish.
I hope the next book in the series goes back to the same flow as the prior books because I enjoy these characters. This book just didn’t have what the others did.
