A Tale Dark & Grimm by Adam Gidwitz

A Tale Dark & Grimm (A Tale Dark & Grimm, #1)A Tale Dark & Grimm by Adam Gidwitz

My rating: 2 of 5 stars

I wanted to love this book so much that I bought the whole series of books before starting on the first. Growing up I loved Grimm fairytales and was so excited about this series of books. So what a let down when I found it a struggle to finish this book.

Hansel and Gretel just want to find loving parents after their parents decided to cut their heads off. The story of the house made of sweets will be a familiar story to you except with a bit more of a twist. The narrator talks to you through each chapter. Actually they aren’t really chapters, more multiple short stories of Hansel and Gretel’s journey.

Half way through the book I found I lost interest in it. The story-line started to drag and became dull. As I mentioned before, I have had such a love for Grimm stories that I bought the whole series at once thinking there was no way I wouldn’t love these books but sadly I was wrong. Huge disappointment and I won’t be finishing the series. Will be taking all of them to the local used book store for store credit ASAP.
