I discovered Joanna and Chips show Fixer Upper when they were in their 3rd season. I haven’t had cable for years so didn’t learn about their show until season 2 and 3 were available on Netflix. I found I fell in love with this couple like many people did due to their wonderful personalities and their strong marriage and family values. Chip and Joanna are such polar opposites and yet are a perfect match and seem to be very much in love. Chip is the goofball who also does all the home renovations while Joanna seems to help ground him and has an amazing eye for design. Joanna’s taste in decorating a home is beautiful yet comfortable and centers around the family. I have been excited to read this book and learn more about them. You learn about how they met, how deep their Christian beliefs are and that God has lead them to where they are today.
Many of us (myself included) don’t think people on these shows have ever struggled but the Gaines did struggle. They had times they had no idea how they would pay their bills and keep their head above water, which is amazing when they are raking in the money now. Family is the main priority still for Chip and Joanna and I love that about them. This book was refreshing to read and I look forward to watching season 4 of the show!
