Review

If you read the Synopsis above and are thinking “this book is not for me”, STOP and read my review first! I honestly dislike Sci-Fi and most Fantasy novels, they are typically not my cup of tea. I am a part of an online women’s book club and this book has come up time and time again in the group and people LOVED it. I never read the description of the book which worked in my favor (will explain shortly). I was able to purchase the whole Lunar Series at my local library for 25 cents each so I bought them all. The reason I said I was glad I never read the description is because if I had I would have NEVER bought this book or any others in the series. The description would have been to Sci-Fi for me and turned me off from reading the book. I started Cinder never reading the description and LOVED it!

The story takes place in a futuristic China. Cinder is a Cyborg and the story has pieces of the Cinderella story wrapped into it. Cinder’s father died and she lives with her Step-Mother and Step-Sisters. She is a mechanic and all money she makes goes directly to her Step-Mother since she is her caretaker. There is a plague that has hit China killing large numbers of citizens including one of her Step-Sisters. Cinder’s Step-Mother blames her for the death of her daughter and sells her off to be used as a genuine pig to find a cure for the plague.

I found this was one of those books where I got really wrapped up in the main character. I truly enjoyed Cinder’s personality and found myself cheering her on throughout the book. Cinder develops a crush on Prince Kai and he seems to feel the same way problem, is he doesn’t know she is a Cyborg.

If I had the time to read this book in one day, I would have done so, I loved it that much. If you are like me and you are not a Sci-Fi fan, I still think you should give this book a try, you may find like I did that you love this book.
